Lily Kate, it seems like only yesterday you were beginning Kindergarten as a sweet, vivacious 5-year-old! You were so ready! I was not as ready, when you bounced into your classroom, on that first day, with only a quick bye mama. That day brought me to tears and so do these realizing you are a graduating and off to begin a new life. Both momentous occasions are bittersweet, for sure.
You were always a precocious kid, who never met a stranger, possessed such spirit, and were born to entertain. I know you were disappointed your senior year came to a close, too quickly, but your grace in difficult times has never ceased to amaze me. I have always been so proud that you made it a point to write thank you notes to your teachers at the end of every school year. You’ve always had a gift of making others feel special, whether it was little girls when you were in your Dogwood dress, singing for senior citizens in our community, or just always being there for your friends and family, no matter the day of the week, or the time of day. To say I am proud of you is an understatement.
Seeing you mature over these years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I know you are going to take your passion for life, people, and your craft and accomplish great things. Yes, while this is a bittersweet time, knowing you are about to embark on this new journey is so exciting. You can do anything you set your mind to, keep living life to the fullest, and watch out Troy University because here she comes!
