Celebrating Veterans!

Meredith C. Lee, Reporter

Veteran’s Day 2021 took plaCOnsce on November 11th. The day dates back all the way to 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson to celebrate the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” that signalled the end of World War I. Originally the day was known as Armistice Day, but it was changed to Veteran’s Day in 1954 by President Eisenhower. Not to be confused with Memorial Day, which directly honors those who have died in service. Veteran’s Day is entirely based around celebrating all members of the military, including those still with us. Military.com recommends that we donated to any chosen organization to honor veterans and their families. Consider writing a letter or visiting a VA hospital. Veteran’s deserve to be truly appreciated, so be sure to tell them “thank you”.

On Thursday November 10th, 2021, Fairhope High School held our annuel Veteran’s Day assembly and concert. Veterans from all over Baldwin County are welcome to come and witness a celebration of their day. Thank you, veterans, for all you have given us.
