Fairhope Public Library throws Taylor Swift Eras Tour Party

by Harper Wilkins

FAIRHOPE, Ala. – Members of the Fairhope community came together at the public library Saturday, October 7, to show their love for the famous singer/songwriter Taylor Swift.

“Taylor’s music has always been there for every big event in my life, and she’s just such a positive role model,” said Lilly Norris, organizer of the event.

Swift’s music has become a part of other people’s lives over the past 10 years. People claim to find peace in her lyrics. Swifties, a name commonly used to refer to Swift’s fanbase, appreciate that she writes her own songs and find an emotional connection to her music.

“I think her music is diversified and uses a lot of different styles, and I like the fact that it’s something that she develops,” said Kelly Williams, attendee.

Swift brings stadiums of people together much like the local community who gathered to share their common revere for Swift. To show their appreciation, these local Swifties made and exchanged handmade friendship bracelets.

“Making and trading friendship bracelets has become a popular activity that takes place at all of the Eras Tour shows, bringing so many people together,” Norris said.

A photo booth was available for attendees where they used props to create unique photos to memorialize the event. Attendees commented about the positive, fun atmosphere that mirrored a real Eras Tour concert.

“The Eras Tour was my first concert, and my mom is handicapped. Everyone was so amazing, accommodating, and positive, trading bracelets and just having fun,” Norris said.

With a  total of 12 albums, combined to create the “Eras Tour,” Swift sings songs from each album. Each era represents a different time period of her life as she shares multiple positive messages to her audience, teaching them that change is ok.

“To see so many kind-hearted, good people in one place [at the Eras Tour concert] is just such a rare and beautiful sighting, and I truly believe it is something you should definitely experience at least once,” Norris said.

Norris’ motivation to organize the local event resulted from her attendance at a concert.
