FAIRHOPE, Ala.–Monkee’s held its Grand Opening Friday, January 26. The boutique-style apparel store is located right in between Cactus Cantina and Kind Cafe. This gem of a shop is a marvelous addition to the already wonderful downtown Fairhope and is a must visit for anyone looking to elevate their wardrobe game.
Customers enjoyed a beverage and browsed the beautiful, intricate pieces, for the first time. Customers purchased items, and the already known store was making a new name for itself.
Owner Holly Saliski always dreamed of opening a boutique, and it has finally become a reality. Saliski originated from Montgomery and was a medical sales representative. While that job was fulfilling, she always knew her incredible eye for fashion was her true passion.
“My husband was the one who really gave me the big push to leave my job and do something I truly loved,” Saliski said.
Monkee’s originated in North Carolina 29 years ago and boasts 58 stores in its franchise today.
Manager Anna Lebruzo previously managed Sadies, a well-known downtown Fairhope staple.
Lebruzo said there are specific pieces that make Monkee’s stand out.
“Some of our dresses come from hand paintings made in Italy and then those paintings get transferred onto fabric and onto our dresses,” Lebruzo said.
In the heart of downtown with competing shops, Monkees immediately catches the eye of the consumer with items for everyone and all occasions.
“All girls, women of all ages, we have short fun dresses for girls in high school, we have things for bridal showers, wedding showers. We wanted to be inclusive of all ages,” Lebruzo said.
As the staff of Monkee’s gives themselves a pat on the back for a successful first day, it is safe to say that with their clothing selection, incredible customer service and commitment to age inclusivity, Monkee’s will be a successful downtown shop.
