University of South Alabama holds 6th annual Glass Pumpkin Patch Festival

MOBILE, Ala. – Friday, Oct. 4, at the University of South Alabama, festival goers attended the Glass Pumpkin Patch Festival. They looked and bought man-made glass pumpkins for a fundraiser. The festival started at 8 a.m. and ended at 4p.m.

People from all across Alabama  visited the event. “This my third time going and there are always more things to look at each year,” said Michael Evans, a festival goer from Pensacola.

Students and faculty members created pumpkins for the festival.

Graduate student Alicia Williams crafted pumpkins for the event and showed them to potential customers.

“I hope some of my pumpkins are sold because I think they look good,” Williams said.

The University of South Alabama is the only one to have a Glass Arts Program, it hosts a Glass Pumpkin Patch Festival every year. This event has a wide variety of purposes for the University of South Alabama.

It is used as a fundraiser and as a stage for artists to show their works. “This festival is an awesome chance for students to showcase their work and gain experience in a work environment,” said Matthew Patterson, associate professor in the Department of Art and Art History.
