Fries Inside takes comfort food next level

When looking for affordable and high-quality fast food, Daphne’s new Fries Inside is the place to go. Located on Highway 98, Fries Inside offers many different flavor combinations to spice up a simple fry meal.

Last Friday, my friends and I were looking for a quick place to eat before heading to our school’s football game. One of my friends mentioned seeing an ad for a new restaurant that had just opened this month, so we knew we had to try it. We arrived just before 6 p.m., and hardly beat the waves of people who came in after us.

Walking in, I noticed it wasn’t your typical restaurant. They offered high-tech ordering touch screens, allowing customers more freedom and time to build their meals. However, these ordering machines, being placed right in front of the door, caused a large pile-up of people going out of the building once the rush hour hit.

The atmosphere was casual and family-friendly with vibrant, colored interior and music playing throughout the dining area. The circulating smell of fresh fries made everyone’s mouths water as they waited to place their orders.

When customers first open up the menu on the screen, it asks them to pick between their two bases and sizes. A medium, large, and extra large bowl or a medium and large wrap. The menu suggests their carefully crafted items, but also gives customers the option to create their own unique combinations.

Once they have selected their base, it’s time to choose a meat. Fries Inside offers ground beef, grilled chicken, chicken tenders, nuggets, grilled steak, and falafel for non-meat eaters. Lastly, the bowls and wraps are filled with up to two sauces. These choices include buttermilk ranch, peppery tender ranch, sriracha mayo, honey mustard, and buffalo.

Although the menu is limited to two meal styles, my friends and I each found something we loved. I decided to stick with my go-to fast food order and built a medium-sized buffalo chicken ranch wrap, which was more than enough to fill me up. Two of my friends ordered the classic bowls filled with beef, chicken tenders and tender sauce. Even my friend, who is vegetarian and has a hard time ordering at restaurants, was very pleased to see they had options that include falafel.

After ordering, we were met with a warm smile from one of the workers who invited us to sit wherever we wanted. My friends and I sat in a booth close to the pickup area so we could easily get our food when it came out. Seconds later, the same girl who had invited us to sit handed us our drink cups and directed us to the filling station. Although Fries Inside isn’t a typical sit-down service restaurant, the workers made it a priority to make connections with customers and put a smile on everyone’s faces.

By the time my table’s meals were called out, a young man preparing the food had already made his way to us. He passed out our meals, telling us to enjoy and that if we needed anything, to let him know.

Our food came out within less than 10 minutes after we ordered, freshly cooked. Each meal was loaded to perfection with the right ratio of crunchy fries, fresh meat and sauce. I especially couldn’t keep my hands away from my friend’s bowls. The flavor combinations made for the perfect spicy, savory taste that I was hoping for when walking in.

I was pleasantly surprised when trying my other friend’s vegetarian wrap. It was unlike anything I’ve eaten before, but the falafel was a good substitute for meat while enhancing all of the other flavors in the wrap. To wrap the meal up, my friend ordered the churro fries and let each of us have a bite. The churro fries were the most flavor-packed I had ever tasted. It’s safe to say I was a big fan.

Eating out can be so convenient for individuals and families in need of a quick, easy meal. However, prices these days make restaurant dining less enjoyable. Considering the portion sizes and quality of the ingredients, Fries Inside offers lower, reasonable prices compared to most restaurants nowadays. My meal, including a drink, came out to a total of $10.38. A normal wrap or bowl is priced at $8.49, but charges a dollar extra for a medium-sized drink.

I would recommend Fries Inside to anyone. It was so delicious and worth my money that I brought my brother to eat with me the next day. They get 5 stars and another visit from me soon.
