Faculty Spotlight: Chris Dabney

Mr. Chris Dabney is a 12th grade AP Government and Economics teacher at Fairhope High School. Mr. Dabney has been teaching for 16 years and has spent nine of those years at Fairhope High School. Mr. Dabney graduated from University of South Alabama with his bachelor’s degree in 2005. Mr. Dabney graduated from Grand Canyon University with his master’s degree in 2008. Mr. Dabney has a wife that teaches at Daphne High School and a son that is 12 years old. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and sailing. With Covid-19 around he is extra cautious and still gives his students the same experience from previous years. Mr. Dabney went into education because he loves social studies and loves working with the younger audience. Mr. Dabney is also Fairhope High School sailing coach. The sailing team has been going strong for 9 years. The sailing team competes with other schools from around the nation mostly from Fort Walton Beach, FL to Houston, TX. The team has done very well in regattas in the passed nine years with very impressive finishes. Mr. Dabney also served in the U.S. Army from 1996-1999 and was deployed to Bosnia and Kosovo in 1999.
