Annual homecoming to span over six days

FAIRHOPE, Ala.— Fairhope High School will hold its annual homecoming dance Saturday, Sept. 20. inside the gym from 7 to 10 p.m. The dance culminates a week full of activities and opportunities for students and Fairhope stakeholders.

Students should expect a night of dressing up and dancing as this year’s dance theme will be “A Night at the Oscars.” Each ticket will cost twenty five dollars, available for purchase through MySchoolBucks.

Student Government Association showcases the dance by creating displays, producing potential themes, organizing the pep rally and setting up the gym. In anticipation of the dance the students are encouraged to dress up for each day’s theme Sept. 15-19. Themes include Country v. Country Club, Slumber Party, Anything but a Backpack, Duo Day and Teacher v. Students Swap Day.

“In preparation of homecoming the SGA representatives vote on the theme and decide on the vision during the summer months. While our executive board is in charge of the dance and the parade, everyone takes an active role in making it a success,” said Brandy Waters, SGA sponsor.

“This year, we decided to let the student body vote on our dress-up days. The Event Planning classes help us assemble many of the props and decor and the SGA representatives work tirelessly during the week of homecoming to get everything ready for Friday and Saturday’s set up.”

Thursday, Sept. 18, FHS clubs and teams will ride floats along with homecoming maids through downtown Fairhope for the annual homecoming parade and bonfire. The band and cheerleaders lead the parade to the bonfire at the beach where they perform and head coach Tim Carter gives a speech. The pep rally is set for Friday during school with a game  kickoff of 7 p.m. versus Robertsdale High School at W.C. Major Field.

Homecoming is a night for all grade levels to enjoy. You don’t want to miss out! For more information students can visit the Fairhope High School SGA instagram and can contact Brandy Waters at [email protected] for questions regarding homecoming.
