Juniors scheduled to take the ACT

FAIRHOPE, Ala.- Tuesday, Oct 21, Fairhope High School juniors are scheduled to take the ACT.

Principal Jon Cardwell set aside funding for the juniors to be able to take the test for free in October and November. The students will take the new, updated version of the test with the science and writing portions included.

Students are expected to show growth and provide accurate test-taking data from the October to November tests. “I like bragging on my scores,” Cardwell said. ACT scores are used by colleges and universities for admissions and to gauge the academic performance of students.

Students have been preparing in ACT prep classes, and teachers cater to test questions. The students took the pre-ACT as sophomores to help teachers and administrators understand where students needed improvement to help them score the highest they can on the ACT.

“I am excited to take the ACT because it shows my academic success and taking the test makes it so surreal that I am preparing for college and my future career, ” said Marilee Segars, junior.

The scores are predicted to come out five to eight weeks after the test date.

Anyone is welcome to take the ACT on the scheduled test dates at the high school that is hosting. There are varying fees depending on which section the test taker opts into or out of.
