FHS inducts new members into National Honor Society

by Ann Clark-Smurda, reporter

Fairhope High School hosted its annual induction ceremony into the National Honor Society on Friday, March 22, at 10am.

National Honor Society is an organization of people who exemplify positive characteristics of leadership, citizenship and service who are selected to be a part of a large group of members.

The requirements for NHS are a 3.75 GPA along with no referrals, exemplifying  qualities of a responsible citizen.

NHS is a small part of the huge cooperation. There is a society in each of the 50 states, making it very competitive to be an inductee.

Senior Bella Risser is a 2024 inductee.

“I’m excited to be inducted because it will look good on my college resume and I’m excited to have an achievement for working hard on my grades,” Risser said.

Walker Rux gave the Pledge of Allegiance, Samuel Hochhauser led the Invocation and Sanders Daniell introduced the ceremony.

The welcome speech was delivered by Warner Cummings.

“Inductees should make a difference in the lives of students at the school,” Cummings said.

With another year of a successful ceremony, for the new members it is most important to remember the NHS motto – “I will be true to the principles for which it stands, I will be loyal to my school, And I will maintain and encourage high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character.”

Following the ceremony, inductees attended their first new member meeting.
