Fairhope Rotary to host annual steak cook-off

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (May 9, 2024) – Fairhope Rotary and the thirty four cook teams will come together in Fairhope for the annual Rotary Steak Cook-Off on May 11, at North Bancroft Street where the participating teams will line up to compete for the best steak. This event is powered by Piggly Wiggly and sponsored by Terry Thompson Chevrolet, Portside Advertising and Jazz’d Creative.

The cook-off will feature a live music performance from the band Whitelang and will begin at 7 p.m. and end approximately at 9 p.m. This one night only event will be serving 3,100 steaks to enjoy. All admissions go to fund projects to increase the quality of Fairhope. These projects include The Fairhope Police Departments Back to School program, Shop with a Cop Christmas program, donations to the Fairhope Rotary Youth Club, four annual scholarships for graduating high school seniors, Fairhope Intermediate Schools Pirate Patch Vegetable Garden and an emergency relief trailer.

After 18 years and nearly $1 million going straight back to the community it is hard to measure the true impact. Fairhope Rotary is proud to have brought so many sponsors and people together with this great event,” said Chad Clarke, Rotary event coordinator. “It is a true Testament that our community cares about each other and has entrusted Fairhope Rotary to serve the needs where they can. Whether it is donating to the Fairhope Rotary youth club or Baldwin County family Village or even our disaster relief trailers, Fairhope Rotary’s main goal is always service above self.”

The two ticket options include a general admission fee of $75 or a VIP admission fee of $175 and must be paid through Eventbrite or purchased at the Fairhope Piggly Wiggly before the event gates open. Children under the age of 12 do not require a ticket. The VIP ticket includes access to the VIP tent, steak prepared on site by Guest Chef from Tamaras, Master Joe’s famous sushi, no line beer and wine, special desserts made by Fairhope Chocolate and a private lounge area.

Winning awards include Steak Cook-Off Grand Champion, People’s Choice Award, Rotary Club Hospitality Award and the Best Decorated Booth Award . Each team that participates in the cookoff will receive special recognition at the event and will be featured in post event ads and other Fairhope Rotary Club communications. The People’s Choice Award team will receive a one year loan of the trophy and the Grand Champion team will receive a special trophy and will be declared the ultimate winner of the Steak Cook-Off.

In the traditions of Rotary, its members represent business professionals and leaders from most every vocation. As the Eastern Shore has grown, the Fairhope club has been influential in helping “birth” additional clubs in our surrounding area. The Fairhope Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit IRS 401(c)(3) corporation that promotes the concept of world understanding through international charitable giving, humanitarian service projects, and scholarships specifically on the local level for our community. Formed on October 21, 1997, the local foundation, like the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, is also supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and others who share its vision of a better community.
