Students who are members of Operation Jubilee, the club that serves the special education program at Fairhope High School, hold Back to School Bash to welcome in the new school year. September 3, saw the Jubilee class members and the Operation Jubilee Club get to know each other in a fun environment.
Operation Jubilee is a service club that allows students to have a friendly relationship with special needs students. The club holds monthly meetings where they plan and develop ideas for upcoming events.
Events allow for students in the Jubilee room to connect with students and have an opportunity to engage in non-school related activities.

“I’ve created a lot of friendships with all the kids in the class and it’s a mutual respect between me and all of them. It’s just amazing seeing them in the hallway and everywhere around town and it always makes them so happy,¨ said Hudson Weems, junior club officer.
The bash has been a tradition for years. The bash is planned and produced by members of the club.
”I don’t really have to do much anymore, the kids do all of the work,” said Jenny Bailey, club sponsor.
To prepare for Back to School Bash, club members donate supplies in return for service hours.
¨We have to figure out who’s going to bring stuff and set up for the event,¨ Weems said.
During the bash, jubilee students play water games, draw with chalk, have snacks and congregate with members of Operation Jubilee.

¨My favorite part of Back to School Bash was going down the water slide with Nate and Charlie,¨ Weems said.
Operation Jubilee’s main goal is to help the Jubilee students feel included and have a sense of belonging while club members serve their community forming relationships.
¨Operation Jubilee is important because it teaches inclusion and how to show love to others despite their differences,¨ Percy Jane Hardman, junior club member.
To get involved with Operation Jubilee students can contact Jenny Bailey or talk to a club member about their current needs or a way to join the club.
