National Honor Society inducts new members

FAIRHOPE, Ala.- In the gym on Friday, March 27, National Honor Society inducted 217 new members, bringing its total membership to 537. 

Candidates eligible for selection to this chapter must be members of the sophomore, junior, or senior class, must have been enrolled for a period equivalent to one semester at Fairhope High School and shall have a minimum cumulative weighted grade point average of 3.75. 

Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards, candidates must fill out an application and shall then be considered based on their service, leadership, and character.

To remain active in the society, members must complete service hours, maintain GPA and maintain good standing with leadership and character. 

Thanks and farewells… Cardwell thanks the seniors for their service in the NHS, highlighting their years of commitment. Cardwell handed out their stoles for graduation.

“It’s an honor to be in the NHS. It’s an awesome program that allows for my hard work to be recognized and appreciated,” said Lucy McIntosh, sophomore inductee. 

Principal Jon Cardwell commenced the ceremony by thanking parents for attending and congratulating students on their success, highlighting the seniors and thanking them.

 Sherri Brewer, head of National Honor Society, inducted new members, calling them out and handing them their certificates. Brewer shared the mission of the NHS.

The purpose of this chapter shall be to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in students of Fairhope High School,” Brewer said.

To end the ceremony, Cardwell again thanked seniors and highlighted their numerous achievements academically. Seniors received their National Honors Society stoles.
