Fairhope Dance Collective performs its final showcase

FAIRHOPE, Ala.–Fairhope Dance Collective showcased their final performance “Chapters” in the black box for friends and families over a three-day period from April 6-9. They danced in what they organized as an  11-chapter format.

Dance Instructor Brooke Eubanks and IB Students choreographed the dances. The IB students had full creative freedom to display any chapter of life they wished through one dance.

“Not only do we look up to them [IB students] as teachers, but they are some of our best friends,” said Laney Thompson, junior dancer.

This showcase represented the chapters of life that these dancers have experienced throughout their time with FDC, while also displaying their cultivated talents.

Senior Mcllelan Allen expressed her gratitude towards Eubanks and the company for helping her progress over the years.

“When I was a freshman, I was so shy and nervous, but over this chapter FDC has helped me gain so much confidence,” Allen said.

FDC began preparing for this performance Dec. 8, right after their fall showcase in late November.

“We prepared so hard for this show on our breaks, after school and everyday in our dance periods,” Thompson said.

Between chapters, Eubanks displayed videos of the photos taken on field trips, dance rehearsals and many other team events throughout the year. After the performance friends and families ran to hug the dancers and congratulate them.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better showcase to close this incredible chapter,” Allen said.

Starting it off… The first group of dancers hold their opening pose for chapter 1. This dance called “My prerogative” displayed power and privilege.
