FAIRHOPE, Ala.-Friday, April 10, seniors participated in a series of classes chosen by the students to help prepare them for adulthood.
The students used a scheduling app to pick which courses they would like to take. Options included self defense, sewing, proper traffic stop, basic mechanics, meal prep, voter registration and how to enlist in the military.
“Budgeting and registering as a voter is important for learning about how to save my money,” said Hank Pratt, senior.

Adulting Day was designed to give seniors an opportunity to gain skills to help them succeed in college and in their adulting life. Classes were curated to meet those needs.
“I learned meal prepping can help with having less stress,” said Ian Brown, senior.
Volunteers from the community taught classes. Mayor Sherri Sullivan and city council member Jimmy Conyers taught a class on city government and how to be a responsible citizen.
“My favorite part of adulting day was learning how to sew on buttons, since it’s an important life skill; that will definitely help me in college,” said Emmie Freeman, senior.
