Pirates Place in Top Four at Toro Takedown

Wrestlers from across the region converged on Spanish Fort High School  Dec. 5-6, for the annual Toro Takedown where Fairhope, Spanish Fort, and several other high schools competed. 

The Pirates brought 11 wrestlers to the JV portion of the tournament and finished third as a group behind several other strong performances. 

“This win really made everything worth it,” said Matthew Wells, Fairhope’s head wrestling coach.

Spanish Fort also showed its strength, earning podium finishes across numerous weight classes.

“This event is always a big thing for us as it helps the team grow,” said J.T Gosnell, Spanish Fort’s head wrestling coach.

Fairhope’s Junior High Squad delivered one of the weekend’s top team results, securing second place overall in the junior high division.
