New coach Caleb Ross sets tone for spring practice

Explosive First Step…A Fairhope defensive back bursts off the line of scrimmage during a speed and agility circuit. These high-intensity interval drills increased the team’s overall tempo following a conditioning evaluation held earlier in the week. By focusing on quick-twitch movements, the coaching staff aimed to improve the squad’s transition speed before moving into full-team 11-on-11 simulations. (Bryce Wells)
Pirate Drill…Rising senior Nic Ronsisvalle streaks down the sideline, skillfully evading defenders as a pair of blockers clears a path ahead of him.”I can’t believe this is my last season playing football at fairhope, I except this year to be the best Fairhope has ever had,” Ronsisvalle said. Battle in the Trenches…The running backs run through stability drills, honing their ability to maintain balance and stay upright through heavy contact. (Bryce Wells)
Driving the Pile…The blueprint for defensive dominance starts in the trenches. By drilling the five-man sled during spring ball, the Pirates worked to turn raw power into the technical discipline required to match last season’s elite performance. Last year, the unit set a grueling standard, allowing only 215 points—an average of just 17.9 per game. To replicate that success, the current coaching staff focuses on the small wins that happen before the whistle even blows. ( Bryce Wells)
Perfect footwork…Wide Receivers practice their perfect footwork as Coach Caleb Ross puts in a new offensive plan for the new season.Last season Junior Receiver Hayden Woodford was ranked top 33 in wide receivers in the state of Alabama. “I can’t wait to prove myself this season. I think I was underrated last season, Everyone will know who I am this season,” Woodford said. (Bryce Wells)

Setting the Standard…Fairhope Pirates players line up on the hashes as Al Earnest Ross demonstrates proper hand placement on the ball during a fundamental drill. This practice marked the first week of spring ball for the Pirates, focusing on technical refinements following the program’s transition to a new coaching staff earlier this year. (Bryce Wells)
Kicking the ball…Senior Jayden Wallace prepares his leg for the upcoming season. Previous kicker Grant Thompson’s career kick record was 53 yards. “Im ready to fill those shoes im 100% prepared for the season and what to come,” Wallace said. (Bryce Wells)
Low Man Wins…The Fairhope offensive line hones its technique, focusing on firing off the ball with a low pad level and tight hand placement. After anchoring a dominant rushing attack that cleared well over 1,500 yards last season, Coach Julian Gaston is pushing the unit to maintain that same killer mindset while perfecting their footwork and explosiveness at the snap.”I’m so excited to see this group of men dominate the other side of the ball everyday,” Gaston said. Fairhope Pirates take the field for the spring game on May 15, 2026. (Bryce Wells)
