FAIRHOPE, Ala. —  The Drama Club met September 30 to work on  the set of their upcoming production “The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong,” a unique comedy in subject as well as set design.  Production is set for October 20.

“The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong” is happening in two weeks and I’m excited because we’re gonna have a lot of set gags and things moving and falling down,” said Teagan Lanicek, stage manager.

The Drama Club sanded and wallpapered the sets to prepare for the upcoming show. The flashy decor of the 1920s

Build it… Brown, McGill and Hardy sand the flats. “Essentially what we were trying to get were three walls that can fall,” McGill said. (Riley Wootten)

Haversham Manor is the setting. Club members painted props and flats to bring the stage to life.

“I always try to take on leadership positions within the theater department.  Normally, when it comes to preparing for a show I try to keep morale up with the students,” said Lilly Norris, student director.

Putting on a play within a play takes hard work and dedication on the part of the actor.  Building friendships and trust with fellow actors is important in creating a successful production.

“It’s important to think about your character as an actual person that you’re trying to portray and not just lines on a page,” said Alex McGill, student actor.

Audiences should prepare to laugh at this hilarious student-led comedy with a chaotic set design.   Tickets will be available through GoFan.
